Birmingham is a city known for its’ combination of Victorian splendour and modern architecture.  The Parthenon inspired Town Hall, Chamberlain Square, The Library, and the refurbished Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery present a remarkable vista.  The Museum has a collection of international importance covering fine art, ceramics, metalwork, jewellery, natural history, archaeology, local history and industrial history. Adjacent to the Museum is The Jewellery Quarter, an industry hub.  Home to more than 100 retailers, diamond dealers, and workshops, as well as the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, with a preserved 1980s workshop. 

Then there is the shopping - The Bullring offers a huge range of shops, from major department stores to niche boutiques, over 160 stores combined.  Next door is the famous Birmingham Indoor Market.  In this area is a wide range of cafes and restaurants. Nearby is Birmingham Cathedral which claims to be the oldest building in the city centre still used for its original purpose. It has amongst its sights four beautiful stained-glass windows designed by Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones.
