John Pinion describes an expedition to Antarctica, sailing from New Zealand to the Ross Sea, visiting the expedition huts of Scott and Shackleton, then traversing the Ross Ice Shelf halfway around the continent to the Antarctic Peninsula and via Deception Island onwards towards Argentina.
